Part 19:

Salem:

Outside Shawn’s place, he and Mimi are still doing CPR on Chelsea. It has started to rain and all of them are drenched. Shawn is working to get her heart beating and keeps saying, “Come on, Chelsea!” He seems frantic. Mimi is barely keeping it together sobbing between giving Chelsea mouth to mouth. Behind them Bo1 groans but is still unconscious. Shawn glances at him then turns back to Chelsea. He asks Mimi, “What happen, what did Chelsea tell you? How did you she, how did you know?” Mimi isn’t in a state to really answer, she just sobs out, “She… called me… told me you were in danger… that Bo… oh god there’s so much blood.” Shawn says, “Its okay… it’s going to be okay. Look at me Mimi.” Mimi looks up at him, he says in a calm and caring voice, “It WILL be okay. I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you. But I need you to focus and help me here. Can you do that?” She takes a deep breath and nods.

Finally the EMTs and police arrive. The rush over to them and take over the CPR and start to work on Chelsea. Another group is over at Bo1. The police come over to Shawn who is now holding Mimi almost as if keeping her from fainting. They wrap both in blankets and put umbrellas over them. The cops separate Shawn and Mimi to take their statements and then let them back together as they tell them their stories matched. One of the cops tells Shawn he is sorry and doesn’t know what to say about what happened. He tells Shawn that he will radio Roman to meet them at the hospital.

Shawn and Mimi watch them put Chelsea and Bo1 into ambulances. The cops tell them that they will take them to the hospital. Shawn says no that he wants to ride with Bo1. They look at him kind of oddly but agree to let him. Mimi will meet him there as she goes with the cops.

Inside the ambulance Shawn just stares at Bo1 unblinking as if he is trying to figure out what just happened and who this man laying in front of him is. The EMTs assure him that his wounds are not fatal and he will be okay. Shawn does not respond. He then flashes back to his conversation with Mimi when she tried to tell him about Patrick’s message and he remembers Hope’s name being in it. He blinks too saying under his breath, “Mom.” He whips out his cell phone but one of the EMTs stops him saying he can’t use that here and he will be able to call his family from the hospital. He shoves in back in his pocket and staring again at Bo1 with a serious look, we hear his thoughts, “If you think you are going to hurt my mother then I swear to you… next time I will aim for your head.”

Paris:

Hope, Bo2, and Patrick are all asleep in chairs as the doctor arrives and gently wakes Hope. All three awake and the doctor who has obviously been in surgery sits down to tell them how Steve is. He says, “Your friend is out of surgery. The bullet punctured his lung and there was massive internal bleeding. The next 24 hours will be critical but I feel confidant that he will pull through. He seems to be made of some strong stuff.” Hope smiles and Bo2 says, “Yes he is.”

Hope asks when he can leave, as they would like to transfer him back to the states. The doctor shakes his head and says he cannot be moved for at least a week. Hope sighs disappointed but says, “Fine… then we will wait for him.” The doctor nods and says that they can leave their number with the nurse and they will call them with updates.

The doctor leaves and Patrick asks if they shouldn’t head back to Salem as soon as possible. Hope says, “I know… but we can’t leave him here alone. Frankly I’m surprised that the French police aren’t here with a warrant for him. I was expecting to have to pull strings with ISA to get him out of the country.” Patrick says, “Chances are if he was working with Mason and L that they have kept his record clear… they’re better at string pulling then any friends at the ISA you have are I can tell you that.” Hope sighs obviously tired and sits down.

Salem:

Shawn and the ambulances arrive to the hospital first. The EMTs are working on Chelsea as they rush through the doors. Shawn stands back watching them go in. We can tell by his face as he sees Chelsea pass that he is conflicted and confused about her actions. After she is through the wheel in Bo1, and hustle him off to a room.

Lexi comes up to Shawn and asks if he is okay. He nods. She says she promises to take good care of them and runs off. Shawn finds a phone and dials. We hear and see Hope answer. Shawn says, “Mom! Are you okay? Where are you?” Hope steps away from Patrick and Bo2 to take the call. She says, “Shawn? Yes I’m fine...” She scoffs a little taking note of how she looks and remembering all that’s just happened as she glances over at Bo2. She says, “Well… fine enough. What’s wrong you sound upset?” She walks outside to finish talking to him as she sees a nurse point to a ‘No Cell Phone Sign’ at her.

Shawn says, “Mom… something has happened. Dad he… he tried to kill me.” Hope exclaims, “WHAT?!?!” Shawn continues, “It’s a long story but he just came at me with a gun. Chelsea… she… he shot Chelsea… I don’t know if she’s going to make it, they just brought her in. We’re at the hospital. Dad… I… I shot him. They said he will be fine but… oh my god mom… I think you are in danger too. Wherever you are you need to stay there… stay away from Salem and stay away from Dad!” Hope looks into the hospital through the glass and sees Patrick and Bo2, she focuses looking at Bo2 and then says to Shawn, “No… honey I’m coming home. If Bo is in the hospital then he will be under guard and won’t be able to hurt anyone.” Shawn tries to protest, “But mom…” Hope cuts him off, “She says, Shawn… I have to come back, you will understand when I get there. But… oh my baby.” She looks so distraught wishing she could hug Shawn. She says, “Honey… I’m so sorry I left. I shouldn’t have… Are you okay?” Shawn says, “Mom… I’m fine. You had to go, I’m glad you did or who knows what would have happened tonight.”

Hope says, “I love you, Shawn. I will be home as soon as I can.” Shawn says, “I love you too, Mom. Be careful.” Hope is about to say goodbye when Shawn says, “Mom… one other thing. Chelsea… she…” He pauses not sure he can say it but does, “She… she saved my and Mimi’s lives. She took the bullet for me.” Hope is silent on the other end taking in what he said. She sighs and says, “And you don’t now how to feel about that.” Shawn says, “No… I don’t. I mean, it doesn’t change what she did.” Hope looks back into the hospital and at the laptop sitting in her seat. We get a quick flashback to her opening the file on it about ‘Georgia.’ Back to reality she says to Shawn, “No it doesn’t… nothing changes that. But… there may be more to her then we know.” Shawn looks confused and is about to ask her about what she means when he sees Roman and Abe heading towards him. He says to Hope, “Mom, Roman and Abe are here. I have to go.” They exchange ‘I love yous’ and hang up.

Hope looks inside staring at Bo2. She says to herself, “And how do I know you aren’t another ticking time bomb waiting to go off?” Her look is not of anger but almost one of disappointment and fear. We can tell she wants this Bo to be the real Bo but is afraid.

Paris (Bo2 and Patrick):

Bo2 and Patrick watch Hope leave on the phone and look on in concern. After she is outside Bo2 looks at Patrick and says, “So… relationship?” Patrick turns to face him and we can tell how uncomfortable and sorry he is. He says, “Look… I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I just…” Bo2 waves a hand cutting him off he says, “Save it. I understand why you didn’t. It’s okay. Just tell me… I mean how close are you two?” Patrick looks now like he would like to be back in the mansion. He stammers out, “Not that close… I mean yes, that close but not… I mean, yes we’ve been close but…” He sighs in frustration as he trips over his words. He tries again, “Whatever was starting with Hope and I it JUST started. I… I’ve been encouraging her to try and work things out with you… I mean him. But, you need to understand, she was fighting to get over you. She thought you… I mean Bo had betrayed her and was moving on with Billie. I wasn’t the ‘other man’ I promise you. In fact I think I was probably just little more then a rebound.”

Bo2 gives a half smile and says, “Relax, Patrick… I just needed to know. Besides I’m not stupid, I could tell.” He sits down and Patrick sits next to him. Patrick looks surprised and says, “Wait… what you aren’t mad or jealous!?” Bo2 looks at him sideways and says, “Oh I’m jealous alright. You aren’t a rebound, you’re her friend. It is obvious. And believe me I’m not thrilled at the thought of you and her… but you told me everything she had been through and now she has to go through my being here and not knowing....” He sighs, “I wasn’t lying before when I said that it would have been some comfort if I had known that this other Bo had been there for her and helped her through loosing Zack. She obviously trusts you… cares for you…” We can tell this is killing him.  “If you have been any help to her in all this then all I can really say to you is… thank you. How could I be mad?” We can read the emotions in Bo2 as he is fighting against his instincts here but knows he is doing the right thing. Patrick looks like he may pass out he is so shocked. But Bo finishes his thought, “Besides, until I find out for a fact that I am… I can’t kill you for being with my wife now can I?” He forces a smile as he jokes. Patrick gives a nervous laugh and says, “You are a far cry from the Bo in Salem. And you need to know two things. One, Hope is still in love with Bo Brady. She always has been and always will. I was a fool to think that would ever change, but… well you love her, you know how it is. And two, if you are Bo Brady… I will NOT be standing in the way of you two.” He looks at Bo2 seriously driving home the point.

Bo2 matches Patrick’s look and then smiles and chuckles saying, “You’re damn right about that, pal.” The two share a laugh and Patrick sighs in relief.

Hope walks in and up to them not even asking what the joke was about she says, “Change of planes… we have to leave for Salem as soon as possible.”

Patrick and Bo2 look at her perplexed and ask what happened. Hope says, “The man in Salem is NOT Bo Brady. He tried to kill Shawn and may have already killed Chelsea.” Bo2 exclaims, “What?! Is Shawn okay?!” Hope nods saying, “Yes he is fine.” She sees Patrick open his mouth to ask and she finishes his question before he can ask it, “And so is Mimi.” Both Bo2 and Patrick exclaim “Thank God.” Patrick then says, “But how does this prove that Bo isn’t the real Bo? He could be being brainwashed.” Hope shakes her head, “No matter what I may have thought my husband capable of I know he would never raise a hand… or a gun… to our child. Even if he was brainwashed. But we need to get back there and get this mess cleared up.” Bo2 asks, “How?” Hope tells him about the drug and that Steve is proof it works. Bo2 asks, “And Lexi knows how to make it?” Hope says, “No… but hopefully she can find someone who does.”

Bo2 says, “Okay… but what about Steve? If we leave him here then L’s men could come to finish him off before he can tell us more.” Patrick nods emphatically saying, “He’s right. We need to put him under guard.” Hope agrees and says, “I’ll call ISA and have them send someone over.”

Just then Giovanni walks up behind them and says, “Maybe I can help you again, my dear!” He beams with a smile and takes Hope into a hug. She is shocked and smiles back. He says, “So good to see you okay. My brother told me you had a little adventure eh?” She says, “um… yeah a little one you could say. She turns and introduces Patrick and then turns to introduce Bo2 but hesitates not sure what to call him. Bo2 puts out his hand and says, “Brady” Giovanni says he’s glad they are all okay and asks what he can do to help them. Hope says, “Giovanni… I… I have to ask… are you…” she whispers, “mafia?” Giovanni bursts out laughing and says, “No no, my dear. I am not. I never had de stomach for de family business. Never really approved of eet either.” He smiles and says in a fake hushed way, “I’m what you may call de ‘black sheep’ of de family.” He laughs again as Bo2 and Patrick do their best not to laugh also. Hope suppresses a smile and says, “But your brother and his friends.” Giovanni laughs and waves it off saying, “Ah! Well what ees de good having a little brother if he doesn’t do as he’s told when I need him to eh?” He smiles and says, “Now I did not mean to over hear but... if you need someone to watch over your friend den my brother would be more den happy too. And I fly you and your two friends here back home eh?” He beams as if he just suggested they all go out for drinks.

Hope looks back at Patrick and Bo2 as it silently ask them to help her out of this, but both just shrug. Patrick says holing back from laughing at Hope’s predicament, “Well they would be more likely to understand L’s methods then the ISA would.” Hope gives him a dirty look. Bo2 says, “I still think we should inform the ISA. Would your brother and his friends be able to... um… work around with the ISA here?” Giovanni says, “Oh yes… they do it all the time!” Hope just shakes her head and suppresses a laugh unable to avoid seeing the humor in it all. She turns to Giovanni and thanks him saying that they would greatly appreciate it. She asks, “But are you sure about the flight to Salem? I mean that is no small flight.” He winks and says, “I assure you my passport is legal and I would love to see your city.” She smiles back and says thank you.

Hope calls ISA and they come and get set up to protect Steve. Hope asks to see Steve before they go but the doctors say he is unconscious and will be for awhile. One of the ISA agents says he was friends with Steve long ago and will not leave his side and promises to call her the moment he is awake. She thanks him and she, Bo2, Patrick, and Giovanni all head out. Hope picks up the laptop and is about to head out but has a thought. She stops and takes out the disk. She gets an envelop from the nurse station and puts it inside. She writes a quick note and puts it in with it. She then goes to the ISA man in charge and says, “Can you make sure that this is handed directly to Shane Donavan?” The man nods and she thanks him. She says in her head, “With a little luck, Shane’s people will be able to recover the corrupted files.”

She heads out the door with Patrick and Bo2.
